Answering the Call to Ministry
The United Evangelical Episcopal Church (UEEC) is committed to raising up faithful men and women for service in the Church. Whether you are discerning a call to the diaconate, priesthood, or episcopacy, or seeking to serve as a religious, lay minister, or catechist, the Vocations Office is here to guide you in the discernment, formation, and ordination process.
Lay Ministry & Religious Vocations
For those called to lay ministry, opportunities exist in pastoral care, teaching, evangelism, music ministry, and administration. Additionally, those called to the religious life may pursue a vocation within a recognized UEEC religious order or community.
The Path to Ordination
The UEEC follows a structured and prayerful process for those discerning Holy Orders:
- Discernment – A period of prayer, spiritual direction, and consultation with clergy and mentors to confirm God’s call.
- Application & Sponsorship – Candidates must submit an application and receive sponsorship from a local parish or bishop.
- Formation & Education – Completion of a theological education program, which may include studies through a UEEC-affiliated seminary or theological institution.
- Canonical Examination – Candidates must undergo an assessment of their theological knowledge, spiritual maturity, and pastoral readiness.
- Ordination – Upon approval, candidates are ordained to the Diaconate, and later, to the Sacred Priesthood, as the Church discerns their vocation.
