UNITED EVANGELICAL EPISCOPAL CHURCH

History of the United Evangelical Episcopal Church

The United Evangelical Episcopal Church (UEEC) was founded in 1977 as a faithful response to the liturgical and theological changes introduced by the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. Recognizing the need to preserve the historic Anglican faith and worship, a group of bishops and clergy from New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania came together to uphold the traditional doctrine, discipline, and worship of the Church.

A Stand for the Historic Faith

The movement that led to the formation of the UEEC was driven by a deep conviction that the 1928 Book of Common Prayer represented the authentic liturgical and theological heritage of Anglicanism. Concerned that the revisions of 1979 departed from the historic theology and apostolic order of the Church, these bishops and clergy sought to maintain the historic episcopacy, orthodox doctrine, and evangelical witness that had long defined classical Anglicanism.

Growth and Expansion

From its founding, the UEEC established a network of faithful congregations committed to traditional Anglican worship and biblical teaching. Over the decades, the Church has grown into a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural communion, embracing believers from diverse backgrounds while maintaining unity in Christ.

A Continuing Witness

Today, the United Evangelical Episcopal Church remains steadfast in its mission to uphold the historic faith, traditional liturgy, and sacramental life of the Church. Rooted in the Great Commission, the UEEC continues to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and serve as a beacon of orthodox Anglicanism in an ever-changing world.

We invite you to join us in this rich spiritual heritage as we continue to worship, teach, and witness for Christ in the fullness of the apostolic and evangelical tradition.
